Overview
There are 5 majors for undergraduates, i.e. Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Industrial Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, and Aeronautical & Astronautical Science &Technology (under construction), all of which accept international students.
Mechanical Engineering in SMAE is the national first batch first-level key discipline approved in 2007. It was honored with Excellent Engineers Plan and passed the Engineering Education Professional Accreditation, both organized by the MOE. In 2019, Mechanical Engineering was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program by the MOE.
The national talents training bases of the school include National Teaching Base for Basic Mechanical Courses, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Basic Mechanical Courses, National Engineering Practical Education Center, National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Mechanical Courses.
Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering programme at JLU aims to cultivate top talents with engineering and management background. Students in this programme can master broad and solid theories, professional knowledge as well as skills so that they can solve complex engineering problems in mechanical engineering and related fields. The graduates from this programme are competent for the tasks in engineering design, manufacturing, technology development, scientific research, production organization and management. After years of construction, this programme has formed its advantage in cultivating professional technical talents in the fields of automobile manufacturing, aerospace, numerical control equipment and engineering equipment.
Engineering Mechanics
The target of the Engineering Mechanics at JLU is to cultivate talents with theoretical knowledge of engineering mechanics, scientific computing technology, as well as experimental capabilities. The curriculum includes mechanics, mathematics, computer and foreign languages. Students are able to solve mechanical problems in engineering by means of computer and experimental techniques. The graduates from this major can choose to continue their studies in engineering mechanics or to engage themselves in jobs related to product development, technology research and development, scientific research, production organization and management, in the areas of automotive, aerospace and so on. This major has a good academic reputation in fields of structural vibration and control, lightweight design of automobile structure, fatigue fracture and reliability, and biomechanics.
Industrial Engineering
The Industrial Engineering programme aims to cultivate outstanding interdisciplinary industrial engineers. The students in this major can integrate theory and practice, improve the operation and management of the organization using engineering and scientific methods, and make plans based on the concept of system management. The graduates can do jobs related to planning, design, implementation, evaluation, improvement and innovation, in the aspects of information, manpower, equipment, raw materials, process, technology.
Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering
The Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering programme aims to cultivate intelligent manufacturing talents with innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision. Students in this major can master theories, expertise and professional skills of intelligent manufacturing engineering. The graduates from this programme are competent for jobs related to intelligent production planning management, intelligent factory integration, intelligent testing, intelligent equipment fault diagnosis and maintenance, manufacturing system automation and intelligent manufacturing engineering project management.
